PianoDisc
I've installed numerous player systems, mostly PianoDisc.
I installed my first one somewhere around 1990(model number PDS 32) and there certainly
have been some changes since then.
The current iPad based system retails for over $8000, including the iPad.
The iPad comes preloaded with plenty of software, and you can also upload additional
selections directly from the PianoDisc website,
in their Music Store section at the top of the page. They have selections that are just piano,
piano plus other instruments (speaker needed), and music videos.
The early versions of digital players were not known to play softly,
but when adjusted properly, the current players play a piano whisper soft without "dropping" notes.
Proper adjustment starts with a piano action that is in good regulation, and proceeds with a proper
installation of the player system.

The mechanism pushes up on the backs of the keys and has no effect on the way
the piano played originally. Additionally, the piano's tone is not affected.
The piano manufacturing industry has embraced the player systems by slighly modifying their
actions and piano cabinets to accomodate these players. The slot that is cut in the underside
of the piano's keybed is the same slot they cut in pianos back in the early part of the 1900's
to accomodate the paper roll players with names like Ampico, Duo Art, Pianola, Aeolian and Welte Mignon.
PianoDisc insists that their factory trained installers install their players so that all the pedals
do what they originally did prior to the installation.
It's been my findings that PianoDisc is the most adaptable retrofitable player system out
there and can be installed to play the most notes. They can be upgraded as improvements to the
system occur.
I've upgraded a number of players as they've aged and the customer has always been thrilled with the
results. The new technology has more control as the key moves making softer play far more
noticable and pleasurable to listen to.
