RPT .......... Registered Piano Technician. Any piano technician that has these letters following their name has passed some exams administered by the Piano Technicians Guild . It serves as a benchmark to the customer indicating that the technician has at least that amount of technique and skill. Those of us who have passed these exams usually move forward to advance our skills from there by attending seminars put on by the various chapters of the Guild. There are some technicians out there that have some outstanding talent in certain areas of piano construction and their maintenance. To have them share their knowledge with us all is truly a resource to be respected.
